Victims of the worst possible abuse

November 21, 2009

And if you think your life has been difficult, take a look at the life of the 8-year old Liberian girl who was gang raped by 4 boys in July of this year.  Her parents have now been charged with child abuse.

Documented incidents ranging from the girl wandering alone at night begging for food at the apartment complex where they live, to being beaten with wires, sticks and her parents fists.  The incidents date back to 2005.

If that wasn’t enough, the parents felt shamed by her after her alleged rape.

Then we have the case of Shaniya Davis, who’s mother sold her. Her dead body was discovered this past week after she went missing from a hotel.  Her mother has been charged with human trafficking, child abuse and prostitution.

It sickens and saddens me to see these beautiful, innocent children experience a life of nothing short of torment.

And why hasn’t child protection intervened sooner?  Why did these children remain in the hands of uncaring, abusive parents?

These children depend on adults to intervene for them.  Where were you?

Child Protective Services are a powerless, wimpy, always-too-late agency. They are unstructured, unprofessional, fickle, and otherwise useless.

I totally agree. My brother was watching a documentary on the FLDS church. He was so disgusted that he woke the next day still feeling utter disgust. He said members spoke of being raped as children by grown men, repeatedly, while their mothers sat in the next room listening to the screams and doing nothing. They were doing nothing because they were taught to “obey” men.

How do we put an end to hurting the children?
